High level papers published by undergraduate students in ESI Journal of Environmental Ecology.

July 16, 2018

Recently, Huang Yuhong, an undergraduate majoring in environmental science in grade 2013 of our college, as the first author, published his research paper in "Journal of Environmental Management" of environmental ecology ESI (entitled "Biodegradation of di-butyl phthalate (DBP) by a novel endophytic bacterium Bacillus subtilis and its bioaugmentation for removing DBP from vegetation slurry"). The author of this thesis is Dr. Lu Huixiong, and the thesis is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (41471265). The latest impact factor of this journal is 4.005, which is the second-highest level in JCR area of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Published online at: https: / doi.org / 10.1016 / j.jenvman.2018.07.023. During his undergraduate period, Huang Yuhong published one thesis in a Chinese core journal and applied for a patent for invention. He was admitted as a graduate student majoring in environmental engineering at Jinan University with outstanding results last year, indicating that our college has achieved satisfactory results in undergraduate training.

The pollution of plasticizer phthalic acid esters has attracted much attention. A plant endophytic bacterium (Bacillus subtilis), was selected from the plant to study the degradation of dibutyl phthalate, including the optimization of degradation conditions, degradation performance and degradation, and evaluation of its enhanced biodegradation in plant homogenate. The study on the degradation of dibutyl phthalate by Bacillus subtilis (Bacillus subtilis) enriched the knowledge of endophytes and their functional diversity. The results showed that the degradation rate of dibutyl phthalate in the culture medium was over 90%, and the bioaugmentation of dibutyl phthalate in plant homogenate was significant. This study provided a new idea and direction for the degradation of plasticizers by endophytes and the remediation of polluted environment.
